Aquatics Director/ Head Swim Coach
Marj Trifone (

Marj Trifone's Bio: Marj is a mother of 5 and a Physical Education/Health teacher at Darien High School.  For the past 16 years she has been the head swim coach at DHS, winning 13 state titles, 4 FCIAC championships and 3 open championships.  Marj is an 8-time coach of the year, including FCIAC coach of the year, CISCA coach of the year, Connecticut coach of the year, as well as the runner up for the national coach of the year.  She has been a summer club swim coach for 34 years, 27 of which have been at Middlesex Club. 

Assistant Swim Coaches

Amanda Bieler, Belle Stobbie,  Ariel Gianukakis, Leigh Harrison and Aislinn Florio

Belle Stobbie's Bio:  Belle Stobbie will be a senior at Darien High School this fall. She has been a year-round swimmer for about 9 years now and is currently swimming at Chelsea Piers. Belle has been swimming with Marj for 3 years now on the swim and dive team and I will be a swim captain this fall. This is Belle's second summer working at Middlesex Swim Club and she is excited to be back.

Amanda Bieler's Bio:  This is Amanda’s fifth summer as an assistant swim coach. After two summers at Middlesex and one at Tokeneke Beach Club she is very excited to be back working at Middlesex again. Amanda swam for Marj Trifone in high school and is currently studying and swimming at Boston College.

Head Diving Coach Adam Vance (

Adam Vance's Bio:  Adam Vance is returning to Middlesex Club for his third season as the head diving coach. He is also the Associate Diving Director at the New Canaan YMCA and the head coach of the boys and girls teams at Darien High School. Adam was an All-American diver in high school and college. He is very excited to return to the club and teach members to enjoy the sport of diving.

Assistant Diving Coach - Matt Mintz

Matt Mintz' Bio:  Matt started diving 6 years ago as a freshman in high school. He dove two years with the Joel Barlow High School team in Redding Connecticut and then dove with Whirlwind Diving for two years. After that Matt began attending Union College in New York for diving and made it to Division 3 Regionals and States. At States he placed 5th on three meter and 8th on one meter. This will be Matt's fourth year coaching diving.

Assistant Water Polo Coach - Matt Goodfellow
Matt Goodfellow's Bio:  Matt Goodfellow will be a Senior at King Low Heywood Thomas High School this upcoming school year.  He has played water polo for six years and competitively at Chelsea Piers for the last foud years. Through the Chelsea Piers program Matt has traveled all over the United States and Canada, playing other competitive teams in tournaments such as the Junior Olympics. This past season he was also selected for the New England Zone Olympic Development Team (NEZ ODP) and went out to California to play in the ODP National Championships. In addition to playing water polo, Matt enjoys playing soccer for his school program and watching the English Premiere League games every weekend.
